HUMAN RIGHTS START WHEN HUMAN LIFE BEGINS
WHO WE ARE
Plagal is a nonsectarian, nonpartisan, educational organization that promotes the pro-life ethic within the LGBT+ community while encouraging involvement within the pro-life community. Our particular emphasis is on the unborn and the needs of the mother. We promote collaboration within the pro-life movement.
WHAT WE DO
MARCH FOR LIFE
Participation in the annual March For Life each year, a large demonstration in opposition to abortion held in Washington, DC. Alerts Pro-life LGBTQ+ attending the March of the existence of other pro-life LGBTQ+ individuals; distributes flyers about the pro-life perspective from an LGBTQ+ perspective. Promotes and demonstrate the inclusiveness of all who call themselves pro-life within the pro-life movement
PLAGAL operates education booths at LGBTQ+ events that bring the pro-life message to the LGBTQ+ community. We distribute brochures and recruit new activists to our cause.
If you are looking for a speaker for your next conference, panel discussion, debate or college pro-life meeting, PLAGAL has several individuals available as speakers. For more details and/or to schedule a speaker, please contact us.
We are so happy you’re interested in getting involved with our work here at PLAGAL+. We have many volunteer roles within the organization for which we need people. We do not have an office but operate from various locations where volunteers live. So there is no need to worry about traveling.
VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME
This is one of the simplest ways to help out our cause. We believe the best way for our initiatives to be successful is for the community to actively get involved. This is an easy and efficient way of contributing to the great work we do at Pro-Life Alliance of Gays and Lesbians +. We have many different opportunities both small and large throughout the year. If you'd like to get on an email list for future volunteer projects and opportunities, please sign up below.
MAKE A DONATION
Want to join our efforts but not sure where to start? Make a Donation and take advantage of this incredible opportunity to lend your support. It’s a great way to contribute to our cause, and every little bit counts towards bringing our message to others. Since we are a 501c3 your donation is tax-deductible.
The Pro-Life Alliance of Gays and Lesbians (PLAGAL) was organized in 1990 in Washington, D.C., and Minneapolis, MN. Initially it was called "Gays Against Abortion," but changed in early 1991 to the current name. The founder was Tom Sena, of Washington, D.C., and the first president, Philip Arcidi, of Concord, Mass., was first elected in 1994. The current president, Cecilia Brown, of Ocala, Fla., was installed in 2000.
PLAGAL is a Florida-based 501(c)(3) corporation, governed by a board of directors of nine members. We are a 100% volunteer organization and rely on our volunteers and board members to run our programs.
We have sponsored forums on abortion and breast cancer — anticipating more general public recognition of the highly probable link — and preventing HIV infection in the children of HIV+ mothers. We have participated in the annual January 22nd March for Life since 1991, local Pride events in DC, Philadelphia, and Boston, the 1993 March on Washington for Gay and Lesbian Equal Rights, and a number of demonstrations and counterdemonstrations. We have surprised, confounded, confronted, and enraged both pro-lifers and pro-choicers.
PLAGAL publishes a newsletter from time to time entitled "PLAGAL Memorandum," and several brochures presenting pro-life arguments to the lesbian and gay communities. PLAGAL has submitted numerous articles and letters to the editor to lesbian and gay print media, some of which have actually been published. In addition, PLAGAL has received media attention in both straight and lesbian and gay media at both national and a number of local levels.
Abortion is not just a religious issue. Abortion affects everyone no matter what color they are, what social and economic status a person is, what religious beliefs or lack of belief a person has, it also does not matter what political affiliation a person is. Abortion even affects those within the LGBT community. If you are human this issue affects you. All humans have friends, family, co-workers and acquaintances or themselves that may be faced with a crisis pregnancy.
